Liverpool have reportedly rejected a whopping bid of 100m euros from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.
Eager to splash some of the £200million they made after selling Neymar to PSG, Barcelona see the Brazilian playmaker as an ideal, if not exactly like-for-like, replacement.
After having an initial bid of €85million for Coutinho turned down, the La Liga giants have come back with an even bigger offer. However, once again Liverpool have refused to play ball.
The 26-year-old Coutinho moved to Anfield from Inter Milan in 2013, joining for a modest fee of £8.5million.
However, with Jurgen Klopp hoping to launch a sustained Premier League title tilt this season as well as competing in the Champions League, the Reds need Coutinho’s goals and assists.
Coutinho did sign a new five-year deal with Liverpool back in January.
Still, one wonders just how long the Merseysiders can stave off the advances of the cash-rich Catalans, while the Brazilian star himself must surely be even just a little bit tempted by a move to the Nou Camp?
