In what could be one of the deals of the transfer window, reports suggest that Swansea City are close to signing Bayern Munich schemer Renato Sanches in a season-long long deal.

Sanches only joined Bayern from Benfica last May in a deal worth €35m. The 20-year-old went on to make 25 appearances for the Bundesliga giants while he also played a key role in Portugal’s Euro 2016 success.

However, now the attacking midfielder looks set to swap the Allianz Arena for the Liberty Stadium in a real coup for the Swans.

No doubt a key factor in the move will be the relationship between Paul Clement and Bayern manager Claudio Ancelotti, with the Swansea boss working under the Italian at Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern themselves.

With Gylfi Sigurdsson gone to Everton, Clement will be hoping that the gifted Sanches can fill the creative void left in the Swans’ midfield for the remainder of the season.

Seems like a rather canny deal for the Swans if it goes through!
