‘Tis the season of the international kit release and, while England’s new strip has yet to be formally unveiled, a couple of leaked images purport to show just how the Three Lions will be togged up come the 2018 World Cup.

Because this is Nike we’re talking about here, they’ll be none of the individually themed retro-tinged goodness we witnessed with the recent batch of Adidas World Cup efforts.

No, what Nike have done is taken the latest incarnation of their ‘Vapor’ template, whited it out completely and stuck a thin red line around the collar.

Ta-da!

We are reliably informed by the Footy Headlines chaps that the full kit will see England ditch the odd pale blue sleeves and revert back to the blocky white shirt-blue shorts-white socks formula, with red names and numbers.

Some people will doubtlessly appreciated the almost surgical cleanliness of the 2018 design but frankly we think it’s just another in a long line of indistinguishable identikits.

Boring, is what it is, and another missed opportunity to offer something a little more esoteric and imaginative – like this drop dead gorgeous Umbro concept kit from the brilliant La Casaca (@LaCasacaBlog)…

Dear Lord, can you just imagine?

*Swoon*
