Just as the prophecy foretold, Carlos Tevez returned from his worldwide wanderings to re-re-sign for boyhood club Boca Juniors earlier this month.

The Argentinian striker left Boca in December 2016 to sign for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua in a deal worth around €40million per season, promptly contributing little of note for half-a-season before falling out with coach Wu Jingui over his general lack of fitness and application.

It later emerged that Tevez had inserted a clause into his Shanghai contract that would allow him to mulch his deal after a year if Boca came calling. And lo, here we are.

Speaking to La Nacion on his return to Buenos Aires, Tevez showed not even the slightest hint of remorse:

As soon as I landed in China I realised I wanted to be back at Boca again. I was on vacation for seven months.

That’s when I signed the contract (with Shanghai) I had the Boca clause inserted. I always had the instinct, I knew I was going to come back. I am going to retire in Boca’s shirt.

Asked how he felt about being publicly criticised by Shanghai coach for being overweight and uninterested, the 34-year-old replied:

It’s fine for the Shanghai coach and president to criticise me, I didn’t know what I was doing there.

Just for the record, Shanghai were paying Tevez a whopping £615,000-a-week (after tax) for his services.

You’d think that might be enough to at least inspire the vaguest sliver of effort. Obviously not.

In the immortal words of the Super Furry Animals, the man quite evidently don’t give a f**k.

Tevez is a cunt, that’s no news to anybody, but it’s good that those fuckers in China can hear that from him because nobody cares about their championship and nobody ever will care about it.

Their league is hilarious. They spent so much money to bring in foreign talent and they still start all the native players over their imports.

It’s like an entire league of benchwarmers.

I wouldn`t mess with people even superrichier (sorry, I`m german) than me. Especially when they are culturaly really into NOT losing face.

Those immortal words actually belong to Steely Dan, whose 1973 track “Show Biz Kids” was heavily sampled by the Super Furry Animals.
