Proving that the Championship is always at the very least *slightly* bonkers, Stoke City are in the process of parting with £8million to convince Sam Vokes to leave Burnley and drop down a division.

As a makeweight in said deal, Peter Crouch will move the other way, back up into the Premier League. A splash of Claret to go with his nachos.

Crouch is currently undergoing a medical at Turf Moor with everything reported to be progressing smoothly.

The lanky striker, who turned 38 earlier this week, will have the remainder of his Stoke contract (which expires this summer) taken on by his new side.

Can Crouch do a job? Well, Burnley definitely play to his strengths. Who better to come off the bench and stalk the far post to knock balls down for diminutive strike partner Chris Woods (who stands a mere 6ft 3in) as part of a classic big man/little man pairing?

He could come in very handy for Sean Dyche’s team, who will be desperately trying to engineer a little more room between their own hindquarters and the relegation zone over the next four months.
