Joe Ledley, the young Welsh winger who really caught the eye in his time at Cardiff City, is currently a free agent – thanks, Blackpool – and in search of a new club. It looks like Celtic will win the 23-year-old’s coveted signature.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ledley admitted he was “impressed” by his recent visit to Parkhead.

“It’s not a done deal yet. Obviously I’ve got a lot to think about,” Ledley said.

“I just came up for a look around, but I’ve been very impressed. Will I be back? We’ll see!”

Ooh, the tease! Reading between the lines though, I’d be amazed if Ledley didn’t end up at Celtic for the start of the new season. Which would be a kick in the teeth for Stoke City, AS Roma and Birmingham City, who have all been linked with Ledley.

Celtic and Ledley would be a good fit, in my view. The fans in Scotland would certainly appreciate him staying true to his Celtic roots, especially at the expense of Premier League clubs.

Seems a good move for both Joe and Celtic. He can mature at Celtic with Celtic probably cashing in at a future date if he excels.Good luck to both.

spl is worse then the championship so how ya work that 1 out!?

Birmingham were only linked with Joe Ledley when he first rose to first team level. They have not been linked with him for a good two years. Bad reporting!

@3 yeah, the SPL may be worse than the championship, maybe not, but there’s been a helluva lot of championship players who’ve come up to the SPL and looked way out of their depth. Glenn Loovens is the first one that springs to mind.

He could of course go to those worlf football powerhouses, Stoke City (no disrespect intended) or he could be turning out next week for Celtic in front of 50,000 for their first pre-season friendly against Sounders United.

Think about that for a minute…. 50,000 against a local US team very few would have heard of. Do you think the likes of Stoke, Hull, Birmingham, Barsnley, etc. would even raise an eyebrow outside of England??

I think therein lies the draw of Celtic over certain Premiership clubs.

I simply love the……why is he going to the SPL?…. its rubbish compared to the Championship!!!..

Did charlie adam get voted the player of the year??? what a laugh! the boy is rank rotten and couldnt hack it up here.

hmmmm let me think who we have beaten in the last couple of years??
the then champions league holders AC Milan…manchester united….porto…just to name a few.

The boy could be heading to a MASSIVE club a club far far far bigger than any team in the championship and 90% of the premiership.
60,000 home fans per week and a £15m training complex.

but just a wee rubbish team from the wee rubbish SPL

you lot believe your OWN HYPE that english football is the best in the world…but here is a reality check….
how did you get on in the world cup…
    and
how many english teams have won the champions league since the premiership started?

TV money will dry up soon and we will see the true state of english football…be afraid…very afraid

Your comparing Birmingham in the bracket of teams like Barnsley, Stoke and Hull you are a Grade A tool. Birmingham are going on a pre-season tour of China you fool. They are going to be the first British team let alone English team to play at the Beijing National stadium. Proof that what you’ve said is complete bollox.

  9. PHIL from Booth Utd says:

No disrespect to Celtic but have they got the players that Birmingham have got? NO. No disrespect to Celtic but do they play in an inferior league, where the best they can manage is coming second to a Ranger’s team with no money? YES. How can you say that the match Celtic are playing in against this new US team will see 50,000 fans turn up? What you can predict the future now can you? Maybe they would be turning up to see the new US team rather than a shower of shite from Scotland? Mention the name Celtic in the US and they’ll probably think you have some sort of orientation to the Irish. Anyway your comments should not be treated seriously as they are complete drivel.
