Celtic Confirm Signing Of Joe Ledley

By Chris Wright

Celtic have confirmed, via their official website, that they have signed highly-rated Welsh midfielder Joe Ledley on a four-yeal deal.

Ledley, who was a free-agent after his deal with Cardiff City expired at the beginning of the month, was also in talks with Stoke City but eventually decided on a move north of the border after being impressed by a recent visit to Parkhead.

The 23-year-old told Channel 67 (Celtic’s online television channel];

“Celtic is a massive club, I’m looking forward to the season and working with [manager] Neil Lennon and his coaching staff.

I want to come here and win trophies. This is a great club and I’m looking forward to playing in front of a Celtic’s great fans every week.

This is the right time to leave Cardiff and look at my career. Hopefully we can win the league and cups and it gives me the opportunity to play in Europe too.”

The signing of Ledley represents a significant coup on the Bhoy’s part, as it wasn’t too long ago that the Welsh international was being courted by Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Tottenham (amongst others).
