Here’s a bit of ‘breaking’ for you. Whispers in the powder room are suggesting that veteran centre-back Sol Campbell is undergoing a medical at Newcastle as we speak…calm yourself.

Campbell (whose short-term deal with Arsenal expired at the start of the month) has already held talks with the Gunners, Celtic and Sunderland this summer, but it would seem that he is now on the verge of joining the Magpies after manager Chris Hughton scheduled a ‘shotgun medical’ for the 35-year-old defender this morning.

The former England international has only just returned from his honeymoon in Ingoldmells (possible fact check needed).
