Rangers Closing In On South African World Cup Duo

By Chris Wright

Rangers have confirmed that they are in talks over the signings of South African World Cup stars Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mphela (pictured), who play their club football for Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.

Ibrox chief exec Martin Bain has already met with representatives of the Bafana Bafana pair under instruction of Rangers boss Walter Smith, who told the Scottish Sun;

“We are seriously considering both these players, I believe they could fit in well for us. Contact has been made, but we’ll need to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.”

Both Khumalo and Mphela scored in South Africa’s final Group A victory over France, and the double signing is expected to set Rangers back the princely sum of £3 million (£1.5 million each).

    I think Mphela is really underrated. Confederations Cup third place game anyone?

  3. Stilgar says:

    Question is: will they play for chips and peanuts since rangers have no cash
