PSV have told Liverpool that they have no intention of allowing their £10-million-rated striker Ola Toivonen to move to Anfield before the transfer window slams shut next week.

Liverpool’s Head of Footballing Development, Kenny Dalglish, travelled to watch Toivonen (as well as his teammate, Mexican left-back Carlos Salcido) play for PSV against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, but the Dutch club’s sporting director, Marcel Brands, has waived off any speculation surrounding the duo joining Roy Hodgson‘s side, telling fotballskanalen.se;

“I also read about that (Dalglish’s presence at the Alkmaar game) in the newspaper, but I didn’t see him at the stadium and it is not important. We don’t want to lose Ola during this transfer window.

They called us last Thursday, in the morning, and asked how much we wanted for Ola Toivanen, but our answer was clear: we will not sell him at this point. We have not heard from them since.

To have people from other clubs in the stands is quite normal. PSV are a big club and we get visits like that every week.”

That’s probably added a £million or three to asking price. Here’s a bit of bonus Youtubery of Toivonen in action and it looks like he’s nae tha’ bad (as I’m sure King Kenny’s scouting report read)…

    pure opportunism. the guy didn’t even have a starting place for most of last season. let him perform for at least 6 months straight first, and then we’ll talk. if he goes to liverpool now he’ll just be one of the 87 hey got in the squad there and be the first put on the transfer list come next summer. if not winter.
