Tottenham Attempt Last Ditch Move For Rafael Van Der Vaart

By Chris Wright

WITH just 4 minutes’ worth of sand left in the transfer window hourglass, the news broke that Tottenham had launched a sensational last-ditch bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart, after apparently agreeing a sizeable £25 million (or €25 million, depending on which source you choose to believe) for the Dutch international.

If Spurs managed to file the relevant papers before the deadline passed then they will be granted a further period of grace in which to conduct their negotiations with Real and with Van der Vaart himself.

However, details of the potential transfer are understandably a little thin on the ground as I write this, but we’ll bring you updates as and when they filter through to us…

Really hope this is true. Not sure about the price though. But it certainly beats any other midfielder we’ve been linked with.
Again if this is true, I hope we give the 4-5-1 a go with VDV playing behind Defoe

This smacks of a SSN ploy to keep people watching.

  4. Matt says:

    It’s £8m. Nowhere near £25m.

  5. Chris says:

@Matt: As silly as it seems, that was the initial estimate – albeit it was Sky’s initial estimate, so therefore a crock of bull.

  6. Johan Cryuff says:

Can someone please tell me why they they think Van Der Vart is a quality player, failed to live up to his reputation when he moved to Germany, moved to Real and was never a guaranteed started, he isn’t a starter for his national team either and is about as fast as Andy Reid.

    Average at best.

According to wikipedia, Klose to spurs for 27m and Robbie Keane… dont play with our hearts like that wikipedia…

  8. deckard says:

you’re a total idiot. he was voted player of the bundesliga in his first season at hamburg. he’s still highly regarded there. he actually didn’t play that bad for real madrid last season but mourinho rather place his faith in a far from fit kaka who might not even reach his old form again.
