Arsenal are on the verge of signing French youngster Samir Nasri so we had better give you the lowdown.
Name Samir Nasri
Club history Marseille
Position Attacking midfielder. You know the sort. Floats around a bit, making play wherever he may be.
Is he any good? Yes, would be the short answer. He is being touted as the next Zinedine Zidane and has done little to dissuade anyone he is not that good so far in his short career. He already has seven caps for France and has scored two goals in that time. He has struggled with form and injury this season, but there is no doubting his class.
The media view “Nasri, a France international who has been called up to Raymond Domenech’s provisional 30-man squad for the European Championship next month, is a skilful, quick player who prefers to operate in a central midfield position but can play on either flank if required. He would be the ideal replacement for Alexander Hleb if the Belarusian leaves the club this summer.” [Guardian]
Wiki fact! “In mid September 2007 Nasri was hospitalised after suffering from a meningitis-like virus.”
Nas to watch.
