Bit of an iffy source on this one, but word on Pies Street is that Arsenal have taken goalkeeper Manuel Almunia to one side and told him that he will be free to leave the club in the January transfer window.

Almunia’s current deal expires in the summer of 2012, but Arsenal are reportedly willing to offload the 33-year-old for a bit of cash (approx £1-1.5 million) while they still can – rather than offer him a new contract when the time comes.

A couple of Spanish clubs are known to be interested, with Atletico Madrid thought to be keen on replacing the outbound David De Gea with a cheaper alternative, as well as Valencia and former club Osasuna mooted to be hovering.

Hmmm. Entirely plausible, if not a little on the speculative end of the ‘transfer toss’ spectrum. What do reckon? Is this one a go, go, go-er (sell the useless bugger), or a no, no, no-er (keep him as back-up)?

    I can’t see him going in Januray. Arsenal could do with an experienced back-up if Fabianski gets injured. I could see him leaving in the summer though.

    I agree with George, I think Fabianski has shown in the past weeks that he can be reliable as a back-up even though he has made some errors

    arsene wanker lives up to his name once again the wanker. it’s his clever little play that wenger does, telling a the media a certain player’s “still injured” or “still recovering” when in fact he’s been fit for ages and he’s just fallen out of favour. i’m surprised the wanker isn’t maintaining van persie is still nursing some broken toe nail. an imbecile know that after his latest howler (his ten millionth) almunia’s finally been told to fuck off. he costs arsenal nothing but points. and for all u gunners fans, enjoy it while it lasts but keep dreaming. wanker will find a way to fuck up again and come march arsenal will again be far from title contenders.

    @Paul Kirkland
    I don’t think you understood what George said. He meant that Almunia is a good option as a back-up for Fabiański.
