Inter open negotiations with Chelsea

Internazionale have reportedly sent a fax (old school!) to Chelsea to kick-start their bid to sign F-wank Lampard.
Here’s the thing: I find off-season transfer rumours just about the most tedious aspect of modern football. Today Lampard is going to Inter, tomorrow a source will reveal that he wants to stay, then on Wednesday the deal will be back on etc etc.

Like most of you, I’m only really interested in the truth, and the truth is, no journalist knows right now if Lampard is going or staying.
For what it’s worth, I think Lampard will stay at Chelsea for one more season (until his contract expires), then team up with Mourinho in Italy for the 2009/10 season. If Inter can sign him for £6.5m, then I think they’d done decent business. Chelsea have Deco and Ballack to fall back on, which isn’t a bad position to be in.
That’s just my educated opinion. If Lampard ends up leaving Chelsea this summer, I won’t cry because my hunch turned out to be wrong.
