Morning all, fancy a bit of 100% whole-grain rumour roughage to break your fast? Well step this way…

If this morning’s whispers are to be believed, Liverpool will be adding at least one genuine winger to their fairly narrow ranks come January, after finding themselves linked with a cheeky £15 million bid for spindly Aston Villa ace Ashley Young and/or an £8 million move for Newcastle’s hirsute wideman Jonas Gutierrez.

According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are working towards the signing of Young (who is apparently keen to join the Villa Park ‘exodus’ i.e. James Milner) as we speak, with manager Roy Hodgson, transfer advisor Damien Comolli and a network of contacts all fluttering their eyelashes at the Villa forward while NESV get the necessary cash together to fund the deal.

Meanwhile, Sportingo are claiming that Liverpool are preparing to capitalise on the current upheaval at Newcastle by prising the ever-divisive Gutierrez (who has voiced his disappointment over Chris Hughton’s sacking on his Twitter page) away from St James’ Park in the New Year.

Do anything for ya?

young and Gutierrez are both great for the prem league young is fast, english ans knows the league, the other is tall qucik strong and latin so will fit with raul, maxi, lucus, aurelio, torres and reina, he will have no problems because he is already used to the area up north so may be a grea done.t player to have, do not forgett i like the way he stayed with newcastle when they went down? for around 23 mill for two players thats cheap really nowadays when you add it up…

now then we would just need a left back and a striker, striker in jan and a left back and center mid to repace that dead beat poulsen… job

roy hodgson will bring andy caroll to anfield…come on roy

  3. Shane says:

I lose any bit of faith I have left in Roy if he signs these two. An over hyped Englishman (who will never get into the English team) overpriced as he can help make up FA quotas, and an average Argentinian. We already have similar players in Joe Cole & Maxi.

  4. Jay Wright says:

I did want Ashley young up until this season, but have now cooled on him considerably. I still maintain that Suarez should be a priority, or if we can’t get him, another pacey young forward that compliments our team (NOT another target-man), but the second target should be a pacey, wide man that can also get goals and ideally at a relative bargain price (preferably Gervinho or Nzogbia)

  5. Jay Wright says:

Jonas is rubbish though – he should never be considered as a signing for Liverpool, regardless of his price or any lack of alternatives in the market…

    Young!!
