Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed that he plans to hold talks with homesick striker Carlos Tevez tomorrow, in a bid to persuade the uppity hobgoblin to stay at Eastlands for the rest of time.

So said Mancini:

“I will speak with him on Friday. I want to speak to him as Carlos has three-and-a-half years left on his contract.

“I am disappointed [by Tevez’s transfer request] because we are in a good moment and in a good position in the table and our focus must be on this.”

Asked how he will approach the potentially sensitive talks, Mancini implied that he plans to butter up Tevez to within an inch of indecency – by insisting that the Argentinian can become a club legend if he chooses to remain at the club:

“This is an important season for us. We can change the history of the club. We have this group and Carlos is an important player for us. He can be great.

“I hope he stays here. Together we can work well this year. I think we can always change our mind. I don’t think he is really unhappy. But maybe there is another reason.”

Too right there’s another reason…
