That went well! The man that Wigan Athletic busted their transfer record open for, Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli, has joined Italian side Genoa until the end of the season after failing to even come close to scoring a league goal (despite notching six in six pre-season games) for the Latics since signing from Estudiantes for £6 million in the summer.

The man himself announced the deal via his Twitter feed: “6 months at Genoa, very happy!”

Huge loss.

    Depends what you mean about not coming close, he did miss that sitter at the near post with his head at the start of the season I remember.
    Surely Elmander’s form this season has taught us that it can be worth giving players time to adapt to the English game, that isn’t going to happen if he spends 6 months in Genoa.

    @Chris: Good point re: Elmander, but I distinctly remember the Swede getting a least a couple of shots away during his debut season for Bolton – which is more than can be said for Boselli!

    boselli = waste of money

    The new Andrea Silenzi? Only time will tell. And about Elmander, at least he was already a full member of the Swedish national team before he started missing for Bolton.
