A batch of quotes have surfaced from a Real Madrid press conference, in which coach Jose Mourinho – who refused to commit to the cause past the coming summer a couple of days ago – appears to openly pine for a return to the good old, down-home Premier League.

Mis-quotation and/or translation aside, here’s what Jose had to say for himself (via the Sun):

“I’ve decided to return to England. I have nothing prepared about my future – I just want to be happy in my work.

“I have no preferences about Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea. I just want to rediscover the joy.

“I’m not saying the Premier League is the most spectacular in the world but it is the best organised, with fair play and enormous respect for your opponent.”

Well, what do you make of all that then?

After finding out the hard way that he is a fair few rungs down the ball-swinging influence ladder at Real, do you reckon a swift Berna-bump could be on the cards for Mr Mourinho?

    I hate this arrogant prick and I dont want him in “my” league. I hope he stays in spain. Or retires.

  2. Davy says:

    Make this happen…I miss his arrogance he is mint

  3. MaxMad says:

    @C:

    I doubt he’ll retire anytime soon. He’s got a good 15+ years in him, but it depends on how his motivation is by then.

  4. drags says:

    let him stay in Madrid for another season or two, just to give fergie enough time to win another league trophy and champs league, then he can step in and claim world domination at united!!

    Dear jebus, vishnu, and all the other superbest friends

    I dont believe in any of you, but i sure will if he comes back to the bridge

  6. Nuno says:

    Ollie, the press here in Portugal has already quoted him saying that a time or two, and I’m pretty sure there weren’t translation issues.
    BUT he said he would like to return to the prem, not specifying when… “some day”… I believe he will stay in Real this year and perhaps the next one too, but by his comments his ‘dream’ would be to train Man Utd. So, that would also depend on when Fergie retires as I believe he would recomend Mourinho to replace him.

  7. Neumanic says:

    Here’s my abject fear: My favourite top-flight club, whose long-time gaffer’s contract is up for renewal, decides they’re fed up with always being a bridesmaid, never being a winner of silverware, and swaps a fiscally-responsible Frenchman with a penchant for Barca-esque tiki taki for a difficult Portugues with a massive ego and a tendency to put many people behind the ball and call it “tactics handed down from God.” That might be enough for me to switch allegiance to the club up the street with the guy who hires a praying mantis and Dr Zaius for his starting eleven.

  8. Chris says:

    @ Neumanic: My God, it hadn’t even occurred to me! I’m fine with Mourinho at the healm of certain types of teams (aka the ones with all the money)but not the PL tiki takas. That is the absolute worst idea ever. Surely they would never be that stupid? MacArthur trying to lead cavaliers into his war.

  9. tom says:

    i wonder if he will risk never managing UNITED (like hughes)by taking over the blue wanks,i mean mancs.we will find out in the summer if mancini cant get a top 4.think it would be a good laugh though.

  10. C says:

    @MaxMad
    I know he wont retire anytime soon, but I’d rather hope for that then hope for him to die in asscancer or something.
    I like to cling to the little humanity I have left :)
