It’s official. Kaka has signed for Real Madrid. Everyone’s a bwinner baby.
The Brazilian cost Real a cool £56m, the most expensive single transfer in football history. It beats the £47m Real paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001. The transfer went through quickly, which seems to be the way clubs are doing business this summer. Only the tedious C-Ron-to-Madrid saga will rumble on and on.
While Kaka is undoubtedly a world-class player, I’m not sure he’s worth more than £40m, or £8m a season, just as I’m not sure he really wanted to leave Milan - but then it’s clear Madrid were willing to stop at almost nothing to send a message to Barcelona: we’re coming for you next season, you Catalan dogs…

Thing is he won’t be officially the most expensive player in History, as he cost less in Euro’s than Zidane. Of course with the pound now weaker against the Euro it equates to more for us.
It’s all a matter of perspective.
