Lovely colour, but does it burn easily?

According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are set to recoup the whopping £50 million they splashed out on old ‘Dodgy Hamstrings McGraw’ on Monday in a matter of months, thanks to a massive surge in sales of ‘Torres’ replica shirts in the West London area.

The Mirror have the initial facts and figures:

“Chelsea’s record £50 million signing Fernando Torres is already king of the shirt sales – outselling his Liverpool replacement Andy Carroll by 250 jerseys to one.

“Demand for Chelsea’s new Torres home shirts are currently 40% higher than when he arrived at Anfield three years ago, according to suppliers.

“Shirt sales for the Kop’s other new striker, Luis Suarez, are 380% more popular than Carroll replicas, but are still trailing behind Chelsea’s Spanish signing by 30 to one.”

Given that it took just six months for sales of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid shirt to pass the 1 million mark in the Spanish capital alone, and the fact that Torres has topped the table for Premier League shirt sales for the last two seasons, Chelsea should break even on their £50 million investment in…ooh, about three weeks time!

Strange to compare sales of Torres’ Chelsea shirt vs. his 1st yr. at Liverpool, Suarez sales, or Andy Carroll sales. Torres is showing up at Chelsea as a World Cup winner and bonafide Premier League super-star. He was no household name when he showed up in England. Maybe comparissons will matter 3 years from now.

The good thing about the internet is it allows the stupid and those with poor education to make comments which are factually wrong. I suppose that and the habitual bad language that goes with it is an attempt to make up for their lack of knowledge and poor social skills.

@ response 1: I really don’t know why swearing at West Ham supporters on an article about a club in West London is relevant. Care to explain?

    Torres shirt: £55.94
    Fernando Torres: £50,000,000

As comment 8 said it would take the income of 893,815 shirts to cover the cost of Torres’s transfer fee alone. But that doesn’t include the cost of making, printing, delivering, wages etc. so I’m sure it would take at least double that figure.

And this would have to be around 1.8 million unique sales (i.e. people who are weren’t gonna buy a shirt with someone else’s name on it). And a lot of the people who were gonna buy Torres shirts would have already bought one by now, so the demand is gonna decrease…

Luckily they’re mostly signing him to play football though

Shut your assholes you idiots. You think u r the red soldiers, fighting for your liverfkpool club. No U r smelling like dirty horse shit.
U always speak about ur history and legends, I say **** them all. You are a pile of garbage now. Remember the 50million that u recieved for ur El Nino. Use that money buy some additional poo and play them and be religated next year. Then u can peacefully sit in ur famous Anfield and remember ur history. Please leave us alone idiots. And go and buy the jersey of Carol and Suarez. But i m sure you will have to burn it after 2 years. Because just like Torres did now they will also do the same thing in the future. Who want to spend their entire career in such a dirty club.
One more thing i want to ask u poolfuckers. You criticize us for buying torres for 50million. You say that we robed u. But what about your FANNY CAROL. you did the same thing to newcastle that u accuses us did against u. You r true losers. Go away and hang urself.

    You are a tossing idiot.

Everyone knew who Fernando Torres was before he came to England, unless you’re an illiterate yob or a bonafide moron.

As for his World Cup, sure, he was on a World Cup winning squad and played in the matches, but was almost completely absent from the tournament.

  22. SNOOD says:

Im sure the Shevchenko shirts selled like wildfire too hahaha… maybe if Ronaldo doesnt win anything this year with Real then you can buy him for 120 mill… you can justify that with “shirt Sales” and at least he’ll be guarenteed success?
