Newcastle Target Truly Awful Andy Carroll Replacements

By Chris Wright

As I’m sure you’re aware, Andy Carroll’s eleventh-hour deadline day switch to Liverpool left Newcastle with £35 million to plug the gap left in their front-line by the bruising striker and about an hour or so to do it in.

As a result (and coupled with a face-mashing injury to Shola Ameobi), Toon are a little on ‘short’ side up top these days, with manager Alan Pardew left to scour the post-deadline free market in order to replenish his attacking options.

According to the Daily Mail, Pardew has already held talks with Jeremy Aliadiere, though a deal for the glass-legged Frenchman is still thought to be in limbo due to several ‘physical issues’.

However, fear ye not, as the Mail reckon that lumpen Finn Shefki Kuqi is the latest man in the frame, and that a short-term contract may be hammered out in time for Newcastle’s upcoming tie with Blackburn on Saturday.

That’s this Shefki Kuqi…

Rest assured Toon fans, for I will pray for thee.

Let’s be nhonest here; your scraping the barrell with this piece here aren’t you? Any players who are brought in by Pardew on a free until the end of the season will be back up players; not to “Replace Andy Carroll” as your trying to suggest. Andy will be out for another few weeks anyway so he wouldn’t have been playing for us. Pardew has stated that anyone he brings in won’r set the PL alight; but someone may be able to get a goal coming off the bench!!!

I’ll tell you what; you can stick your prayers up your arse; with our fighting spirit we don’t need yours or anyone elses!

Just ask the arsenal about that…..No one is bigger than the club; we are Newcastle; whatever happens; whoever comes and goes; we will always be United!!!!

The lack of ambition in these proposed signings would be really really funny if I wasn’t a Toon fan.

Surely with £35million to be pumped back into the side come the summer Pardew could spread his net a bit wider for ummm well good players.

There are decent players in our youth ranks, could we not just give them a run out, they certainly can’t be any worse than Aliadiere!

you can have carlton cole. just make sure you give us a obscenely good price and that he flops

  4. Smith says:

The scary thing is NUFC have been strongly linked with Carlton Cole at the end of the season… That’s a negative strategy in action if I’ve ver seen one…

  5. V says:

    I’m guessing he’s not a lefty.

  6. Chris T says:

If he does the Kuqi dive I’ll be happy enough.

Chris Wright generally scrapes the barrel for laughs and he fails to deliver here as usual.

  12. Jonas says:

Should have done a deal with Liverpool for NUFC to get N’Gog on loan for the rest of the season in the deal.

@Montesquieu: Aw, you’re my favourite too!

  14. Luke says:

Completely moronic article. These frees are being targeted as a short-term solution to our current strikers. You’d have to be thick as hell to suggest they are replacements for Carroll. Utter crap.

  15. Class Act says:

Ha ha ha Kuqi is DIAboliCaL.

    Aliadiere is worse

Haha, they’ve got their man. While he’s not a long term replacement he clearly is a replacement for this season, one striker out, one striker in. The moody toons just need to swallow it until the end of the season until they get to watch pardew piss away 35m.
