Things Jose doesn’t miss about Chelsea No.1: Seb Coe’s massive Tory face

With reports continuing to circulate that current incumbent Carlo Ancelotti is one draw away from the sack at Stamford Bridge, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has issued a timely reminder that he is still very much ‘in love’ with the club.

When asked if he intended to see out his contract with Real Madrid (which expires in 2014), Mourinho told Sky Sports’ Revista De La Liga programme:

“I don’t know. I love Chelsea. I was the happiest man there.

“I was thinking to be there all my life and a few months later, I was out. So you never know.

“At Inter Milan I found an incredible family, then after two years I felt it was over.

“But when I sign a contract, I sign with the intention to respect the contract and be happy.”

Same old Jose, inconspicuous and delicately subtle.

Of course, it could all amount to nothing more than a fond recollection, but the gossip-hound in me is perfectly willing to tag this as another MASSIVE HINT that Mourinho is becoming increasingly desperate for an ‘out’ at the Bernabeu.

What sayeth thou Pies fans? Would you welcome ol’ Mou and his antics back to the Premier League fold?

I’m not really that up on La Liga. Why does he want to leave so much?
My only guess is he won’t be able to beat Barca so is throwing his toys out.

  2. Chris says:

@Billy: The received wisdom seems to be that Mourinho isn’t happy with the level of interference and influence that the Madrid executives have on the footballing side of things at the Bernabeu and that the intrusive Spanish media are slowly driving him crazy.

Could be hogwash but, as an outsider looking in, I must say that it doesn’t seem like he’s particularly happy with his lot at the moment.

i think he loves john terry’s ass. i think so..

    @Chris
“the intrusive Spanish media are slowly driving him crazy.” Come on, are you serious? The guy has lived in England (higher percentage of bullsh!t per page in media) and Italy (they wanted to make his wife a saint for ‘putting up with him’) and the spanish are driving him crazy?

I believe he doesn’t like the level of interference in Madrid, but he’s dealing with it and I surely don’t believe he would quit in the middle of the season. He may be the most arrogant person on Earth, but he does like a challenge and if he goes out everyone will say he quit because he was afraid of Barça.

Also I believe he will return to England, just not sure if he’ll be back there to Chelsea or to substitute Sir Alex Ferguson, as I’ve always believed to be his dream (not seeing Abramovich hire him back)

  5. Chris says:

@Nuno: Fair play. I don’t claim to be an expert on Spanish football as I hardly get to see any over the course of a season – although I wasn’t implying that it is only the Spanish media that are doing a number on him, he’s sure to get that treatment wherever he goes for as long as he continues coaching.

  6. Nuno says:

Indeed he will always have people talking over him wherever he goes as that is his “method”: claim atentions over him and ‘release’ the players from the media. I’m no expert in spanish football either (I’m portuguese), but what I tend to see is catalan papers throwing him down, and Madrid papers praising him.

But indeed I believe this ‘mediatic’ style of him is more suitable for the Prem and he definitely wants to go back there. Just not now as that would be to just quit this challenge. He can still win everything this season: he’s in CL, in the Cup final (against Barça) and 5 points behind Barça in La Liga (2 if he manages to win them in Barnabeu – and the guy has a 9 year streak of not losing at home for domestic league)

  7. Paul says:

As a Chelsea fan, I’d be happy to see Mourinho back at the Bridge, were he to come back. I don’t think it’s particularly likely though, and especially not during the season.

I don’t particularly want to see Ancelotti sacked as I don’t think he’s a bad manager or to blame for our recent run of decent form (Drogba/Torres not really a problem of his devising, for instance) but if he does go, Mourinho would be my preferred replacement.

    better go to manchester united!

  10. Ted Balls says:

Look at what happened to Del Bosque and Capello, though. If Mourinho wins La Liga, the club will sack him and he’ll be free to go back to Chelsea anyway.
