…for Paul Scholes’ testimonial at Old Trafford on August 5th.

MWUHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The Cosmos’ Pele-assembled, 17-man squad in full:

Nicky Butt, Sol Campbell, Fabio Cannavaro, Brad Friedel, Robbie Keane, Brian McBride, Gary Neville, Michel Salgado, Patrick Vieira and seven U23 Cosmos players; Chad Calderone, Ibrahim Diaby, Stefan Dimitrov, David Diosa, Marvin Iraheta, Dane Murphy, Yanik Reyering, Moriken Sangary.

Yep, Robbie Keane. No offence (okay, a bit of offence), but doesn’t Scholes deserve an altogether more ‘stellar’ affair?

  1. Derteufel says:

Should have been Roy Keane instead of Robbie Keane.
Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira in midfield together. hahaha

  2. Mick Forry says:

Don’t forget Robbie Keane is the record International Goalscorer in the UK and Ireland Lads.

Remember that the next time you’re watching Carlton Cole, Bobby Zamora & Jay Boothroyd lining up for the “brave” three lions.

  3. Conor O'Riordan says:

    @Mick Forry

Thank you very much sir. A man who has scored more international goals than Bobby Charlton, Gary Lineker, Kenny Dalglish and Denis Law amongst many others deserves a bit more respect, no?

  4. Patrick says:

    yea, lay off the Keanster.

  5. Luke says:

But still, a man of Scholes’ caliber should be playing against no less than champions league winners.

  6. Red Peter says:

Given that everyone (Xavi, Zidane, etc) seems to think the sun shines out of his arse, I would have thought a few more big names would have turned out instead of a handful of Cosmos youngsters.

Fingers crossed that Zizou makes the trip to OT as a ‘special guest’ to personally bid Scholesy farewell.

  7. jay says:

omg that my brothers boy, Stefan Dimitrov he played with him in college and in club soccer. i didnt even know he was getting with cosmos whoa!!!!

  8. Montesquieu says:

I agree with the rest, Keane deserves a place in the line up. Besides, Scholes seems to be an jerk-off, so he should be pleased that there’s anyone who’s actually willing to play against him.

  9. Hirsty says:

Slightly off topic but I had a thought the other day with the Cosmos big Umbro campaign. Won’t it be all for naught once they join MLS considering every team has to be sponsored by adidas? Isn’t it a bit of a waste of time, effort, and money on Umbro’s behalf?

  10. Ryan says:

Now all they need is some games, a front office, a stadium, etc.

  11. dale says:

Fuck off with this Robbie Keane wankathon. Ali Daei scored more international goals than Maradona, Eusebio, Puskas etc but nobody would make out he’s some top class footballer.

I suppose the reason Keane is in the squad is because he supported NY Cosmos as a kid though, eh?

  12. stevie mac says:

How fickle this blog is. I remember a few years back when Robbie when on top of his game at Spurs, Pies called him a better player than Rooney which wasn’t even argued with at the time.

  13. Gino Annie? says:

Dale, your knob end. Go away and count Carlton coles england goals. Ali Daei scored more goals against poxy opponents like chinese taipei, Oman,MAldives, Kuwait, Kyrgistan to name but a shitty few.

5 or 6 years ago if Keane was an England international there would have been a wankathon about him. His value would have sky rocketed from all the ‘great players he would have played with’ in the england team.

    Go away you tool
