MANCHESTER CITY want to make Cristiano Ronaldo the world’s most expensive footballer – for the second time in 12 months.

The Sky Blues are lining up a mind-blowing £250million summer swoop for the Real Madrid maestro. Mark Hughes will ditch several high-earning stars, including Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz, to help pay Ronaldo’s astronomical £350,000-a-week wages.

City believe even Madrid will not be able to resist the offer of a quarter of a BILLION pounds for their star player.

The Portuguese star has never, ever expressed a desire to move to his former club’s local rivals, but the prospect of joining up with the likes of Wayne Bridge and Pablo Zabaleta is sure to be tempting.

And there you go – job done, bait laid. That’s how disgracefully easy it is to be a football journalist on a tabloid newspaper. No source, no credibility, but many people lap this crap up because it comes from a national newspaper.

And yet if Pies or another independent football site had contrived such a – frankly insulting – ‘story’ as Barcelona’s summer bid for Wayne Rooney (of which this post is a direct parody – sorry if it tricked you into clicking, but seriously, come on!), readers would, quite rightly, be calling bullshit, and asking “Who told you this?”

So I posted it not because I wanted anyone to believe that City would ever make such an absurd bid for C-Ron, but instead as a (rather crude) satire on the parlous state of so much modern football journalism. They. Make. This. Shit. Up.

We deserve better.

How come Tevez’s head also looks photoshopped on? Haha.

  2. Paul says:

I have bever heard such crap in all my life, he doesn’t need us, and we certainly don’t need another vain superstar, we’ve got enough to last until Christmas. This site is publishing total fabrication.

  3. Big blue Meanie says:

Yeah, I heard that rumour and I reckon it’s true!

  4. Taran says:

don’t be surprised if this is all over tomorrows headlines and all the tabloids claim this as an exclusive citing who ate all the pies as an “unnamed source close to the club”. haha

  5. Ollie says:

Paul, you are what I like to call ‘a total fucktard’. Learn to read & think for yourself, please.

  6. Ollie says:

@ Philando: Yeah, Carlito’s head looks way out of proportion! Calf head.

  7. Cpt Pattern says:

Paul – you need to take a pill fella. It’s easy just to SEE that this is a send up as CR quite obviously has testicles in this photo. And can i just say – knock Bridge all you want as he is a total balloon – but leave Pablo outta this will ya!!?

  8. alex says:

hah im pretty sure cristiano has a little more respect than tevez. only carlos’ childhood autism would be dumb enough to move to a cross town rival and then buy the poster for his home. its like he enjoys being hated.

  9. Alan says:

Wait till you see Adebayor next season. He’s already starting to show his true form. At least he put an effort in for us for 2 seasons.

  10. Bernard says:

Ha ha ha ha ha if this is true you lot are realy desperate to win the prem, why dont you offer the fa £2billion for the title? for they they say money can buy anything . I have more genuine respect for the likes of Burnly FC who compeated with you admirably yesterday to earn a well deserved draw, and with players on a fraction of your weekly wage bill.

  11. Scott says:

Hello Bernard. Yes, it’s true…every single word. Anyway, back on planet earth, Burnly (or is it “Burnley” Bernard?) were good value for a draw. They “compeated” very well, and although the referee was going to give City the 3 points based on salary alone, Owen Coyle managed to persuade the him to play a game of football instead. I don’t know what team you support Bernard, but it’s nice to know you’ve such a healthy interest in mine. Toodle pip!

  12. Roo says:

You f*ckin’ website, dont no anything – ronaldo wouldnt spit on city, they can pay 1bilion, 2 whatever

how much u reckon 18 titles is worth eh lol

  13. gemma barnes says:

    cld be true…wldnt suprise me

  14. willo says:

Blimey! Then Man City could play 4-1-5 and keep all their Millionaire strikers happy.

  15. Charlie says:

Ollie and Capt Patton I think you need to learn to appreciate sarcasm, Paul is obviously taking the piss.

  16. Stew says:

Exactly Gemma it’s not like they can’t afford the odd £250m. If it does happen, at least Pies can say “You read it here first”!

  17. 3nil.co.uk says:

Could it be true? Manchester City plan £250m summer bid for Cristiano Ronaldo » Who Ate all the Pies…

  18. Dan says:

I worry for the general population of Britain when people take this sort of story as fact. I mean it’s not as if Ollie hasn’t mentioned it’s meant as a joke in the actual article…

  19. Ollie says:

@ Dan – Thanks for being a rare voice of sanity here. It’s not even meant as a joke (well, partly), more done to highlight how tabloid football journalism takes us all for mugs.

  20. mark says:

with so many over reactions to this piece, does the author still think “we deserve better”.

  21. Sid says:

Roo’s a bit angry isn’t he? Still crying that the pretty boy preferred a bit of sunshine instead of dreary old Trafford?

  22. Big blue Meanie says:

I’m a bit scared by all the muppets who think this is a real article!!
is it a coincidence they seem to support Manure?
Anyhow, I have a friend who is very highly placed at Real Madrid, and he assures me this story is a smokescreen for the real Big Name Transfer in January – Kaka is unsettled at Madrid, in fact he’s never really settled in, and can’t help but reconsider City’s overtures to buy him almost a year ago, he thinks now he would prefer to play for a team who appreciate him as a Christian, and is looking for a challenge in the Premiership. He is also missing his best mate Robinho, who will stay at City when Kaka comes.
It’s not all about the money.
