Not For The Squeamish: David Villa Suffers Broken Shinbone vs Al Sadd (Video)

Barcelona have just whupped Al Sadd 4-0 in the second Club World Cup semi-final in Yokohama (Adriano, Adriano, Keita and Maxwell if you’re interested – we’ll try and track down some highlights later), but the Japanese jolly has been soured somewhat by a nasty injury to David Villa, who split his tibia in twain five minutes before half-time.
Be warned, while this isn’t the most gruesome leg break you’ll ever witness, there’s a definite moment in the third replay when you can clearly see Villa’s shinbone ‘pop’…
Unsurprisingly, Villa is now expected to miss a sizeable chunk if not all of the rest of the season, so that nailed-on January move to Aston Villa is as good as kaput.

Funny how when he is actually hurt, he isn’t rolling on the ground. You would think it was broken when Albiol stepped on his leg in the Classico earlier this year.

Sorry for Villa, but too bad it wasn’t Messi. Would love to have seen how much Farcelona would win without their only real goalscorer.

A few years back I broke my leg, and the pain was so unbearable almost passed out.
