Iceland’s Steinthor Thorsteinsson Pulls Off Five Useless Flip Throw-Ins vs Japan (Video)

By Chris Wright

In which Iceland midfielder Steithor Freyr Thorsteinsson pulls of a series of five acrobatically impressive (though otherwise completely useless) flip throw-ins in a friendly against Japan last night – each of which resulted in the square root of sweet Fanny Adams…

    Why oh why…It’s just ridiculous.

  2. Brad says:

ifootball10, I don’t know why you are buzzing of this video, it is completely mediocre. Has been done a lot better in the past.

  3. SS says:

Looks like you guys finally gave into that idiot who kept asking you to post this video.

  4. Herman says:

How is it useless with the added distance?

  5. Crack-Steady says:

I counted 7 flip throw ins. 2 which resulted in a chance, albeit put wide still a chance, another that won a corner and one that caused a melee in the box.

More incorrect and sensationalist great reporting.

  6. Nuno says:

It’s useless because he can’t see where he throws the ball. He just hopes someone’s there…

  7. imahbeng says:

    you mean 5 EPIC throws

  8. Murray says:

    @Herman

Added distance means jack squat if nothing else can come of it of it. The majority of the throws didn’t even reach a teammate.

  9. Grant says:

    Best. Name. Ever.

  10. adhikapp says:

with flips like that youd expect the throws to be longer

  11. QPR says:

Its useless as he doesnt even throw it as far as a conventional throw.

  12. He’s not doing it properly; too much height and not enough distance. You’re meant to fling it using the added momentum and releasing the arch in your back. Duh.

  13. Del says:

Yeah how is it useless? I’d say that was a pretty neat trick. The pundits would be drooling all over it if it happened in EPL.

  14. mike says:

Wonder how far it would go if Rory Delap could do a flip in throw!

  15. Harsh says:

They’re useless because they don’t have a tinge of accuracy in them. All this is very neat for Joga Bonito videos, but in a real-life professional football match i think the team would appreciate keeping the ball better than giving it away with such tricks.

  16. Chris says:

@Grant: It’s a fine name, but Neville Neville (Gary and Phil’s dad) still tops the list for me!

  17. swiss mafia says:

He would never be able to do that at old trafford! Or most of the other Premier League stadiums considering the run-in he needs.

  18. Niiiicko says:

Cool but pointless waste of a throw in
