Flashback: Brian Clough tells John Motson to shut up (with video)

No doubt Uncle Motty still has nightmares about this interview.
Like him or loathe him, Clough had the balls and charisma to confront the media head on – he was absolutely right in most of the points he made. I’d rather watch an extra 15 minutes of football on Match of the Day than listen to Messrs Lineker, Hansen and Shearer waffle on in TV’s equivalent of the 19th hole.
God knows what Clough would have made of Sky Sports’ relentless hyperbole.

I watched this after watching the damned united (ok film, jonny giles is much nicer in real life).
I’d agree with clough, show more football. But i do enjoy enlightened analysis. That being said, not too much please. Just how zonal marking is hurting liverpool and how thierry cheated.
His comments on the media coverage of refereeing are still spot on today – the man was an absolute legend.
Still so relevant. Clough based win.
