Downright classy stuff from Houston Dynamo midfielder Colin Clark who, during Dynamo’s 2-0 defeat against Seattle Sounders on Friday, yelled ‘f**king f*gg*t’ in a young ballboy’s face after the kid had the temerity to drop the football near him rather than directly at his feet while Clark was trying to take a quick throw.
The homophobic slur was clearly caught on a pitchside microphone and broadcast around the world in glorious panoramic technicolour 3D stereo sound…
What a guy.
Clark later Tweeted an apology:
“I’d like to offer a sincere apology to everyone who watched the game, especially the ball boy for whom I used awful language toward.
“I didn’t mean to disrespect anyone and am sorry for letting my emotions get the best of me. It’s not who I am and it won’t happen again.”
Apparently, Clark has also volunteered himself as a ‘soccer ally’ to help end homophobia in sport. Meanwhile, the MLS have announced they are ‘aware’ of Clark’s little outburst and will now decide if he is to face any punishment – which, presumably, he will.
