No doubt many of you whippersnappers were/are out on this Friday night tripping the light fantastic, or at least having a drink or two down your local park/boozer/gastro-pub. However, over at the Westfalenstadion, Bundesliga sides Dortmund and Stuttgart were playing out a truly classic 4-4 draw.

League-leaders Dortmund opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, courtesy of Japanese international Shinji Kagawa while Jakub Blaszczykowski made it 2-0 for the home side just after the break. However, rather than roll over and die, seventh-placed Stuttgart fought back with Bosnian striker Vedad Ibisevic netting on 71 minutes before Julian Schieber bagged a brace within two minutes to put The Swabians 3-2 ahead.

However, with just eight minutes to go, German international defender Mats Hummels levelled the scores before Ivan Perisic looked to have won the game for Dortmund on 87 minutes. But still the drama wasn’t finished – well into the second minute of injury time, Christian Gentner found the net to make it 4-4.

Check out the highlights of what was a fantastic game of football.

This was certainly a classic, though it pained me to see the diving Ibesevic net a goal. He had two logic-defying flops in the first half, the second of which really should have merited a booking, so seeing him score was on the annoying side. However, watching Stuttgart’s little n’ large defensive duo of Boka and Niedermeier was really breathless stuff. Would have been great to see BVB win and potentially widen the gap on stupid old Bayern, but the match’s drama made up for the semi-disappointing result.

Agree with Winchester: A match worth a heart attack. But I would have been satisfied, if Dortmund won the game. Nether the less a match for Bundesliga history DVDs.

I fell asleep when it was 1-0. Fml. Neidermeier was immense until then though.
