We seem to have enjoyed a real slew of looooooong-range boomers recently (not least this humdinger from AIK’s Alexander Milosevic), but Stefan Ishizaki’s awesome effort for Elfsborg in their 2-0 away win over Orebro in the Swedish Allsvenskan yesterday.

With the Orebro goalkeeper yomping out to clear a throughball, Ishizaki launched the ball back from whence it came – with the volley popping up and over the stranded ‘keeper before nestling in the goal 70 metres later…

Ishizaki’s boomer has been likened to the volley that Dejan Stankovic clattered home against Schalke in the Champions League last year, though *whisper it* but we think this one shades The Stank’s mammoth effort considering the angles involved.

Feel free to compare and contrast…

Stankovic for me. The defender’s one loops up and bounces where as Stankovic’s is one of the truest hits I’ve ever seen.

stankovic for me as well, keeper should have made more of an effort with the Swedish one

Stankovic for me as well. This one, while amazing, still could’ve been kept out had the keeper not blindly rushed back to the net and noticed that it’d be making a hard bounce. I couldn’t have saved it in a million years, but I’d like to think a top keeper would’ve kept it out on the first bounce, no?

  4. Markell says:

Stankovic. The engle on his was much less harsh, but there wasn’t a bounce from 50 yards!

  5. SL says:

I scored a better one than that when I was 14, the goalie took a place kick and I was in the centre circle, I kicked it right back over his head and it hit the back of the net without touching the ground.

I never even tried again, you just know its one of those 1 in a 1000 things.

This one is the goalies fault, he gets himself right under the bounce.

i remember him being cracking on LMA 2002, great to see him forfilling that potential
