War Breaks Out Over Europe As China’s ‘Now TV’ Release Awesomely Baffling Euro 2012 Advert (Video)

By Chris Wright

With only 18 days to go until it all cracks off in Poland and Ukraine, China’s Euro 2012 television rights holders Now TV have rolled out a new anime-style advert to tantalise the nation – an advert which sees post-apocalyptic renderings of European landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower and the Houses Of Parliament reduced to smouldering rubble, followed by a football match and a lovely song, followed by a sequence which sees all-out war break out over the previously mentioned European landmarks as soldiers, tanks and bombers further raze the continent to the ground – only to be defeated by the footballers and their powerful slide tackles THEN a rainbow lion descends from the sky and makes the world fall apart just before the winning goal gets lashed in…

Makes…sense?

Mucho thankos to @101greatgoals for rooting out a working link!

It’s actually Hong Kong’s Now TV, just thought I’d point that out. As per usual, CCTV are broadcasting Euro 2012 in the Mainland.

  2. Hongkonger says:

Hong Kong*, not China. Sorry but we’re quite particular about this lol.

Which European team does that old oriental dude with the ‘tache play for again?

  5. Lloydy says:

Are you sure this isn’t the plans for China to invade Europe while the whole of the continent is distracted by the footie?

  6. Auntie May says:

    WTF did I just see?
Not trying to be racist but the guy at 02:17 really looks like Jackie Chan to me.
And then there’s Steve Jobs at 02:39 along with some very scary children.

  7. Guff says:

Much better than ITV’s commercial at least.

Classic asians with their two birds one stone, European Championships and the Eurovision song contest in the one add.

  14. Scott says:

Communism ruins everything…even commercials. Yes, I heard you. It is Hong Kong, not China (Shhhh…it is part of China). Still, out of place and off topic. Unless you like to mix your occasional war of conquest with your favorite sport. Nothing like bending people to your will, killing those who disagree and, hold on a second! Goalllllllll!

  15. critic says:

I think it is referring to economic meltdown of europe. And among such depression EURO 2012 will be a welcome relief and unite whole of europe in the end.
