With co-hosts Poland 1-0 down and pushing for an equalizer to rob the Czech Republic of a place in the quarters in the dying seconds of the game, Kuba Blaszczykowski pinged a shot past Petr Cech that appeared to be heading in at the the far post – only for Czech left-back Michal Kadlec to arch his spine and pull off a heroic ‘swan dive’ goal-line clearance to keep his country at Euro 2012 with pretty much the last touch of the game…
Closer inspection suggests that Blaszczykowski’s shot may have been going wide via the outside of the post, but that’s not to detract anything from Kadlec – we knew there was a reason we ear-marked him before the tournament.
