To remind everyone of the fact that the Bundesliga season begins this weekend, Sky Sports Germany turned up at a Kreisliga (the lowest division in Germany) game between SV Lohhof und SSV Dillingen at the weekend and transmogrified their Sunday morning kickabout in a full bells-and-whistles Bundesliga clash.

While the players were in the changing rooms having their pre-game dumps, etc, Sky rolled in over the hill and quickly turned the humble ground into a ‘stadium’ – complete with TV trucks and presenters, sponsorship hoardings (to cover the other, non-Sky advertising hoardings!) and vast hordes of fans cheering on both sides.

The video is in German, but it doesn’t need translating…

Lovely stuff, though we’re duty-bound to point out that it’s not the first time it’s been done – UEFA got there first: transforming a Danish U14’s game into a ‘European Championship Final’ not so very long ago…

I saw saw a Wembley FC match on saturday on ESPN and thought it may be a spoof. I started watching about 15 minutes. The first oddity spotted was Ray (it’s ok he won’t score) Parlour, I thought “Ah, that’s what he’s doing with himself these days.” then there was soxy LaSaux, some Argentinian bloke and that yank Brian wotsit. What’s this!? Seaman is the goalkeeping coach and His Venablesness is the technical director.
Turns out ESPN are making a documentary about Wembley’s cup run and the ex-players are in the cup run squad except for Brian Wotsit who flew home to Indiana. Shame really I had fantesies about Tooting and Mitcham being over run with ex-Chelsea players as they play on their old training ground.
