Way back when on Sunday afternoon, Jamaican sprinters Usain ‘The World’s Fastest Man’ Bolt, Yohan ‘I Would Be The World’s Fastest Man Were It Not For Usain Friggin’ Bolt’ Blake, Warren ‘The Other Guy’ Weir and Asafa ‘This Is Getting Stupid Now’ Powell turned up out of the blue at the Leisure Leagues 5-a-side pitches in Uxbridge and asked if they could play.
The answer, unsurprisingly, was ‘yes’…
Leisure Leagues manager Sarah Gooding told the Daily Mirror:
“Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake walked up to our members of staff on site and asked if anyone could play. To say we were amazed would be an understatement.
“We said they would be more than welcome and Usain, Yohan, Warren, Asafa and all their coaches joined up with one of the teams to show what they could do!
“Our players’ jaws hit the floor! They played for a team called The Underdogs, who lost the match.”
As ‘roll-on roll-off’ subs go, sticking four elite Jamaican sprinters up front ain’t half bad!
