Fat Frank Lampard once again provided his trademark goalscoring magic from midfield for England on a night that they totally dominated a dismal Moldovan side.
The Chelsea man netted a first-brace, courtesy of a penalty and then a header, after a fine floated cross from Glen Johnson. Jermain Defoe made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark while second-half goals from James Milner and Leighton Baines secured a impressive win.
Tom Cleverley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were two of the stars of the England performance as Roy Hodgson’s side took a positive first step on the road to Brazil. Although, to be fair, the Three Lions won’t have many easier games than this.
