Shorn of Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and John Terry amongst others, Roy Hodgson’s England put on a rather poor performance in their second World Cup 2014 qualifier on Tuesday night.

England’s Cesc Fabregas, aka Tom Cleverley, hardly shone in the No. 10 role, missing two good chances and pulling not a single string. Stevie G hit the usual plethora of Hollywood balls and was eventually sent off for two bookables while Alex Oxo-Chamberpot was a spectator for most of the game.

Ukraine, on the other hand, were sharp, neat and tidy, a technical level above the home side and deserving of at least a point. Their goal was a stunner too, coming courtesy of a magnificent  Yevgeni Konoplianka drive on 39 minutes. However, the visitors failed to get a second goal, and ultimately, at the death, Frankie Lamps walloped home a penalty after a handball in the box to square the game.

Not a good omen for the rest of the campaign for Roy and co.

England being voted 3rd best team in the world by FIFA has been the biggest joke of the year.

I can’t talk (as Northern Ireland have just drew 1-1 at home playing against the might of Luxembourg) but it’s still ridiculous that England are thought to be worthy of 3rd place in the world rankings.

What about our ranking? Well, Northern Ireland are 129th.

    Sweet Jesus.

England seem to play better without Rooney. But anyway, I don’t think Ukraine were more impressive as this article states. It was just two average international sides slugging it out and the scoreline shows as such.

I wouldn’t want to be a United supporter right now. RVP supplying all the goals, Kagawa & Rooney out, while new kids Welbeck and Cleverly are hardly looking like the goods. I wonder if SAF thinks he’s entered some kind of alternate universe?

Tom Clever is SHIt SHIT SHIT

I seriously cannot remember the last time watching England was anywhere near interesting or exciting. No matter who the manager is, they’re so dull. I only watched the highlights last night and even that was snoozefest. I might not bother in future.
