“They call it soccer out in America, don’t they? Full of shit.”

Here’s Danny Brooks, a 28-year-old PE teacher from West Yorskshire, setting a new long throw-in world record, with a mark of 49.78m (163ft). The previous record, some 158ft, was set by American student Michael Lochner in 1998.

The front-flip technique Brooks employs is legal, as he has both feet on the ground at the time he throws the ball. As to whether it’s in the spirit of the game, I’m less convinced. But it’s a feat worthy of respect, nonetheless.

Impressed?
