Retro Football: 12-Year-Old La Masia Recruit Andres Iniesta Tells TV News He Dreams Of Playing For Real Madrid (Video)

By Chris Wright

In which a diddy, 12-year-old (we think) Andres Iniesta – a new recruit at Barcelona’s La Masia youth school – innocently tells a Spanish news crew that his dream is to someday play for Real Madrid.

Out of the mouths of babes and all that…

Yep. We thought that was Cesc for a moment too.

  1. Dusty says:

Not a surprise to hear this, Iniesta is a Castilian, so far more likely to grow up supporting Madrid than the other Catalonians at Barca.

  2. bob says:

can I just say that the other guy looks like a small sergio aguero, back when he used to have long hair

  3. [...] Andre Iniesta and his rather surprising ambition to play for Real Madrid [...]

  4. Ale says:

“Yo era de Madrid…” Translation: I WAS for Madrid. Past tense. Big woop. He changed his mind after getting to La Masis and becoming the great he is today. Good choice Iniesta!

  5. Iko says:

The lady in the video says “This 11-year-old boy who cried every night because of being so far away from his home, has been hiding a secret”.

Andres: “I was for Madrid with all my might, now Jorge will say which team he supported.”

Jorge: “I was for Madrid too.”

  6. Buff says:

Speaking of switching allegiances have you seen this video of young Mourinho declaring his undying love for Barcelona? Might explain why he’s always had a frayed relationship with them…
