Uruguayan domestic football is currently on a ten-game suspension after the authorities reached the end of their collective tethers when violence marred Penarol’s recent fixture against rivals Nacional (the Nacional ‘keeper punched a riot cop in the face), though the Copa Bimbo – an exhibition tournament between teams from around South America – is still being played, with the rescheduled final between Penarol and Atletico Rafaela providing one of football’s most joyful sights: Penarol fans in full swing…
