Allow us to take you back in time to 1981 where, as captured by the Anglia TV cameras at Layer Road, Chester’s welsh midfield harrier Brynley Jones scores a magnificently freakish goal against Colchester in the old Division Three – playing a textbook one-two with the referee (with a beautiful headed knock-down by the official) before expertly angling his legs and allowing the defender to cannon a clearance off him and past the U’s goalkeeper from 25 yards…

Superb.

For the record, the game finished 1-1.

I think that this is the first time my team Colchester United has featured on pies for a) ever or b) in a while. Layer Road guys. C’mon, basic footy knowledge!! That said it is a cracking goal even if it was against us. This should be part of the Europol investigation – ref clearly over involved.

@Michael: Welcome to Pies! Have a seat and help yourself to a biscuit.

Seems like we had a duff source which said Chester were at home that day. Duly amended.
