AfCoN: Zambia Keeper Kennedy Mweene Scores Perfect Penalty Under Pressure vs Nigeria (Video)
By Chris Wright
With his side 1-0 down and the final whistle looming, Zambia needed a cool head to capitalise on the incredibly dubious penalty they were gifted against Nigeria in the AfCoN yesterday evening.
Up stepped Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, who proceeded to stick away just about as perfect a penalty as you’re ever likely to see…
It don’t get much better than that peeps! Thanks to Mweene’s spot-kick chops the game ended 1-1, leaving Zambia level on points with The Super Eagles in the Group C table and just about keeping their title defense on track – mathematically at least.

So, why was the keeper taking the PK?
Cos he truly is the Man! What a peno
In my experience, goalkeepers generally do well taking penalty kicks. When I coached youth teams, I did not have my keeper take penalty kicks because of the risk of a quick counterattack, but my keeper was always one my first three penalty takers when a draw had to be resolved.
