What we have here is one of them there video compendiums of just about every single football computer game made in the last 35 years; from 1978’s imaginatively titled ‘Football’ on the Atari right the way through to FIFA 13, passing through classics like Sensi, John Barnes European Football and Peter Shilton’s Handball Maradona on the way.

Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be a place on the list for Gazza’s Super Soccer (which switched the view from landscape to portrait as you ran up the pitch, meaning you just ran straight out for a throw-in every time!) and a true classic of the genre, Chris Kamara’s Street Soccer, which we distinctly remember buying from the bargain bin at a motorway service station.

Anyway, aside from the euphoric wave of nostalgia, the video is worth watching for the 16-bit MIDI take on the ‘Match of the Day’ theme tune @2:35 alone…

Glorious.

(Mucho thanks to Pies fan David J for the tip-off!)
