Sweden – Republic Of Ireland – 2014 World Cup Qualifiers – 22nd March 2013

Millwall ‘keeper David Forde produced a superb performance for Ireland in Sweden on Friday night to help his side to a deserved 0-0 draw.

The visitors started the game superbly, with James McCarthy superb in midfield and Jame McClean dangerous on the flanks. Although the Irish failed to turn their impressive early play into a goal, they battled hard throughout the 90 minutes, with Forde, on his competitive debut, helping to keep out Ibra and co.

The result sees Trap’s men stay well in the hunt in what is a very difficult Group C.

Just about every Ireland fan would of taken that result before the game, Sweden were there for the taking though, neither side carved out any real chances.
Paul Green wasn’t too bad either. Can’t pass worth shite but he broke up the play adequately (for both sides).
