Robin van Persie overtook Johan Cruyff’s goal tally for Holland by way of snaffling himself a brace in Oranje’s 4-0 tonking of Romania last night, the first of which was a fantastic, instinctive header to steer Arjen Robben’s clipped cross over Costel Pantilimon (no mean feat) and dropping it neatly inside the far post…

Very nice.

RVP’s second of the evening came from the penalty spot, which saw him tally up his 34th international goal (in 74 appearances) for Holland, moving him one goal clear of Jopie in the top scorer stakes. The Manchester United striker is now level fourth with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (who has played 15 games less), with only Faas Wilkes (35), Dennis Bergkamp (37) and Patrick Kluivert (40) ahead of him.
