Reading 0-2 Southampton – Premier League – 6th April 2013
Nigel Adkins hosted his former team Southampton on Saturday, desperately in need of a win. However, instead, bottom side Reading were pretty much outplayed by a classy Southampton, with Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez outstanding up front.
Striker Rodriguez opened the scoring on 34 minutes after some superb interplay from the Saints (and an assist from Lambert), while midway through the second-period, Rodriguez set up sub Adam Lallana who stroked home past Adam Federici.
Overall, the Royals offered little in the way of an attacking threat and surely now, Adkins’ men are headed back to the Championship.
