With Lazio having beaten Roma 1-0 in the first ever all-Rome Coppa Italia Final last weekend, hordes of Lazio fans took to the streets of the Italian capital over the weekend to stage a full-scale mock funeral for their despised city rivals – complete with a priest, a coffin, weeping widows and a sombre procession through the streets…

Brings to mind one of Pies’ favourite football photos of all time – the day Sunderland (then of the Second Division) fans pronounced Don Revie’s all-conquering Leeds United side “dead” with a mock coffin placed on the pitch during the Wearside club’s celebratory ‘homecoming’ at Roker Park, days after beating Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup final, 1973…

    I liked this concept more when Genoa put one of these together for Sampdoria’s “passing” into Serie B a few years ago.
