Beautiful Finish: Greece Defender Vasilis Torosidis Scores Impressively Deft Own-Goal vs Romania (Video & GIF)

Romania Greece WCup Soccer

Zeus be praised, Greece made it through to the 2014 World Cup courtesy of a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their play-off against Romania last night which, allied with their 3-1 first-leg victory, duly sent the Ethniki to Brazil with a 4-2 aggregate win – though they did offer the Romanians a customary olive branch through Vasilis Torosidis’ calmly struck own-goal 10 minutes after half-time.

With the ball breaking loose in the area, Torosidis did the decent thing and swept an impressively deft shot past his own ‘keeper to cancel out Konstantinos Mitroglou’s 23rd-minute opener with oodles of style and panache…

An absolutely perfect finish. Here it is again in endless GIF form, just in case the video is pulled down…

I still cant work out like….wha…how?

  2. Nuno says:

@Chris, It’s actually the other defender that kicks the ball against him and it deflects against his own goal (at least it seems so at around 45 seconds of the video)
    It seemed physically impossible otherwise…

  3. TravisKOP says:

Romanian football needs a cleansing. From the squad up to the head of the FA, its so corrupt it hurts to think about.
