CFR Cluj and Sageata Navodari met in the Romanian top flight on Monday evening, with the home side yomping to a 6-1 victory, though it was their first goal of the night (after just two minutes) that has had tongues a-waggin’ ever since.
Upon being gifted with a gilt-edged chance, Cluj defender Vasile Maftei’s entire lower body turned to blancmange as he somehow conspired to miss an otherwise unmissable chance despite being stationed a matter of feet away from a completely vacant net with the ball at his feet.
Maftei wasn’t to fear, however, as his teammate, Damjan Dokovic, was swiftly on hand to power in the ‘rebound’ – from all of 50 yards out…
