Crystal Palace 1-0 Stoke City – Premier League – 18th January 2013

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Crystal Palace v Stoke City - Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace’s revival under manager Tony Pulis got another boost on Saturday, with the Eagles beating their manager’s former club at Selhurst Park. Jason Puncheon, he of the hideous penalty miss against Spurs, was the goal-hero for the Eagles, cutting inside to fire past Jack Butland on 51 minutes. Indeed, Butland was the busier of the two ‘keepers making a number of superb saves, including three brilliant stops in succession as the Eagles looked for a goal. Stoke also had a number of chances, with Charlie Adam going close more than once, but overall the home side deserved their win, which moves them two points clear of the drop-zone. Mark Hughes’ Potters themselves now find themselves just four points away from danger.
