Germany Soccer Bundesliga

Apologies peeps, for we’re a little tardy to the party with this one. This post was scheduled to auto-publish yesterday morning but that was before the system gremlins got hold of it.

Anyway, as you may well have seen, Dortmund lost 3-0 to relegation-threatened Hamburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with Hakan Calhanoglu completing the scoring in the 91st minute with an absolute monster of a free-kick from bloody miles out.

In fact, the Hamburg midfielder was so far out that Dortmund didn’t even bother forming the slightest semblance of a defensive wall – immediately regretting their slack approach when Calhanoglu UNLEASHED (possibly ever-so-slightly wind-assisted) HELL from 45-odd yards out!!!!

Better late than never, eh?

(Thanks to the several dozen Pies fans who tipped us off about this beastly strike on Twitter over the weekend)

I believe they call that a “Thunderbastard”

    No, we don`t.

Most likely we’d call such a goal a Hammer (hammer) or Kracher (stunner). You can even say das Ding (the thing); e.g. “Have you seen that thing Calhanoglu scored against Dortmund?”.

The word Kracher is often used for goals hitting the net hard as f#*k.
I don’t even know why we use it for a goal (or the clash between top class teams (–>Kracherduell)) since Krach means noise and is thus something audible.

You can translate Kracher as cracker aswell. For instance, we call fireworks Chinakracher.

I’ve never heard Thunderbastard (literally translated Donnerbastard). Growling thunder makes a Krach (noise) which brings us the connection again.

    Cheers from Hamburg!

How about we just use the universal gggoooooooooooaaaaaaaalllllllll.

I would like a pre-recorded version to be played at grounds in the EPL whenever someone scores.
